Smart fertilization means higher yields in the future
Providing soil and crops with the right nutrients is a highly specialized task that requires precision. At the same time, arable farmers are continuously challenged to achieve more with lower fertilizer inputs, as regulations are becoming increasingly strict. It is time for smart fertilization.
We are increasingly facing extreme weather conditions such as heavy rainfall or prolonged drought. This makes nutrient uptake more difficult.
Especially during the first half of the growing season, a good supply of nitrogen and phosphate is essential. During this period, crops are in their vegetative growth stage and show their strongest growth curve. In this phase, as much foliage as possible must be produced to achieve optimal photosynthesis and production capacity. Smart fertilization can help achieve this.
In situations where less fertilizer can be applied, or when nutrient availability is reduced due to drought or leaching, foliar fertilization is a highly interesting option. With foliar fertilization, the crop is fed directly. Arable crops are well capable of absorbing water and nutrients through their leaves, making a foliar spray application with a field sprayer (possibly combined with crop protection products or growth regulators) both effective and fast.
Liquid N-P-K fertilizer
To stimulate vegetative development during periods of reduced crop growth, Soiltech offers Optima Leaf-NPK+ in its range. Optima Leaf-NPK+ is a liquid N-P-K fertilizer containing a complete mix of nitrogen, phosphate, potassium, and complexed trace elements.
For maximum results, we recommend supplying magnesium and manganese alongside Optima Leaf-NPK+ during the vegetative growth phase. Both magnesium and manganese are involved in chlorophyll (leaf green) formation and the regulation of photosynthesis.
The following combination should be applied three times at intervals of 14 days:
- Optima Leaf-NPK+: 2 L/ha
- Optima Leaf-Mg+: 1 L/ha
- Optima Leaf-Mn+: 1 L/ha
